The opening of Roscoe the Matchmaker Dog is fact-based. Sheila’s own experience one dark and dreary night. Unfortunately, the Viking hero didn’t appear. That part is fiction!
She is a southern California native who has spent her later years seeking adventure in faraway places like New Zealand and the Philippines. Though her California home in a small beach town is close to the ocean she doesn’t swim since a snorkeling near-drowning incident left her sea shy. She’s bounced off a horse more than once, but always mounts up again. One future goal is overcoming her swimming fear by taking instructions from, perhaps, a handsome lifeguard, which makes for great story material.
